Ye Eyasu (Joshua) Generation Inaugural Award
“Ethiopia shall rise and stretch
forth her hands onto God and be received.”
The history of Ethiopia is undeniable; as one of the world’s oldest Civilizations, Ethiopia is a country that has resources and human capital that can make it the Japan of Africa and Addis Ababa the new Mumbai of the Horn. Ethiopia will rise and stretch forth her hands once more, and the hands that lift our country into an economic powerhouse shall be those of the Iyasu Generation.
On Friday, September 25th 2005, Ethiopian-Americans for Change will be hosting the Inaugural Ethiopian-American Appreciation Day. This momentous occasion will mark a time to recognize the contributions that Ethiopian-Americans have and continue to make to the United States and the impact we have in revitalizing Ethiopia from abroad. One of the central events of Ethiopian-American Appreciation Day will be the recognition of 10 Ethiopians 30 or younger who have made significant contributions through their innovative thinking and unending determination.
The ten (10) recipients will be chosen from the following categories:
- Entrepreneur
- Philanthropist
- Writer/Poet/Artist
- Musician
- Medicine/Scientist
- Political Awareness
- Sports
- Media/Film
- Church/Service
- Technology
Please submit a nominee that you think fits one of these categories who is 30 or younger along with a 2-3 paragraph write-up of his/her merits for this award and a picture of the nominee if possible. Once we narrow down the list to 30 or less, a poll will be posted with names and write up that will give everyone a chance to vote for their Iyasu Generation preferred candidate.
The winners will be announced on Friday, September 25th during the Ethiopian-American Appreciation Day. Please submit all nominations to info@ethiopiansforchange.com
